Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Kolkata Police Commissioner Manoj Verma on Thursday defended the Sub-Inspector accused of assaulting a protester and questioned the conduct of agitating teachers. Addressing a press conference at the Lalbazar headquarters, Verma alleged that a police officer was slapped during the demonstration — an act he termed unacceptable. “Such behaviour is not expected from teachers,” the Commissioner said sternly. “I am the head of Kolkata Police, and I cannot accept anyone raising a hand against the police force.”
